A portable air conditioner is usually more cost effective and energy efficient than a fixed unit. It is compact, easy to install and can be moved from room to room, as required.
How portable air conditioners work
A portable unit operates in exactly the same way as all air conditioners. It sucks hot air out of a room, and funnels it to the outside via a flexible exhaust hose.
Installing a portable air conditioner
The best place to install a portable air conditioning unit is under a window, and within close proximity of an electrical socket.
Ideally, it should stand at least 20cm to 30cm away from the wall. This will allow for the free flow of air, and to ensure the hose has the most direct route to the exhaust vent.
The hose can be vented through an open window, or a sliding door. If a more permanent solution is required, a venting kit, with a window slide connector, allows for the evacuation of the air, while keeping the window sealed.
